New Starters

To enter the maintenance and construction fields in the gas industry you will begin as a Plant Operator or a Service and Mainlaying Assistant. Both of these roles ensure that you are supervised while working on the asset (gas pipelines) and you receive your training on and off the job. Once you have satisfied the requirements for the roles of plant operator or service and mainlaying assistant, Kynekt will get you to the next two levels – Servicelayer and Mainlayer. At the completion of satisfying the requirements for these two roles, you will have earned the Certificate II in Gas Supply Operations. Kynekt aims to get you to the level of Certificate III and IV in Gas Supply Operations for leadership roles in the gas industry.

Already employed in the gas industry?

Kynekt is committed to progressing you through the roles available in the gas industry so that you obtain Certificates III and IV in Gas Supply Operations. Kynekt provides all the training for initial and refresher units to maintain your network compliance.

About the qualifications

Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications provide competencies to conduct Gas Supply Industry activities including installation, maintenance, fault find and repair, operations of distribution and transmission gas pipelines, cylinders and associated equipment. They also provide workers with the required knowledge and skills to carry out work activities autonomously and take responsibility for their own work.

AQF level 4 qualifications provide competencies to supervise and conduct Gas Supply Industry activities including installation, diagnostics and maintenance of distribution and transmission gas pipelines, cylinders and associated equipment. These qualifications also provide the required knowledge and skills to carry out specialised and/or skilled routine and non-routine work activities autonomously and take limited responsibility for the work of others.
